Seasons in the Abyss

When my two UK teammates dressed up as Maritimers for the rugby club's Halloween party they took the time to learn a couple of quintessentially Canadian phrases. Right after "Take off, eh" and "Large double-double" next on their list was "Are you ready for Christmas yet?".

Today is the last day of November but I have already been hearing Christmas carols in stores over the last few weeks. In the US it is a given that the holiday season kicks off at Thanksgiving. In Canada, it seems that retailers have decided that they can start their Christmas marketing campaigns after Rembembrance Day. It's a bit much if you ask me. I'm no grinch but I have found a very handy website to help you figure out if it is Christmas yet - check it out!

There should be a law passed that says no Christmas music should be played in public and Santa can't parade until Dec. 1st and office Christmas parties should not be allowed until the first weekend of December. I have adopted such rules for myself; due to it's effect on my girth I can't drink egg nog until the 15th, my tree does not go up until the 24th and doesn't come down until 12 days later. And Christmas doesn't start until my first friend comes home for the holidays. I can't wait for Christmas.

Pace out.
