And the Galleon is an homage to our nearly extinct shipbuilding heritage. New Brunswick's old growth and know-how made us the producers of the best ships in the Age of Sail. No shit! You know there was a time when our timber resources made us as rich as Alberta's oil resources make it now. It was our tax dollars that allowed settlement of the West. I'm just sayin...
Anyways, that's your history lesson...and to you ex-pats; don't forget where you came from!
If I ever get a tattoo that boat sure would look good...maybe with Daffy Duck as Captain.

Your wispy, sentimental dribble is painful to read; it seems like you're trying to have a blog similar to "Bart's People" from the Simpson's ("I wish they could all be Bart's People, Lisa......I'm Bart Simpson").
Is there any hidden benefit to this incessant rambling? Do people see a softer side of Simon? Do they like it? If so, is it a homo-erotic Brokeback Mountain kind-of like? Are you having feelings of confusion leading you to dig deeper into yourself to explore this softer side? We could hereby decree you be known as Soft Simon if you like.
Really, give the people what they want: short, funny excerpts that involve wine, women and song.....and anything that insults Jackman is good too.
On behalf of the pro "Soft Simon" readers.....we are truly appreciative of his honesty and compassion his writing displays.....so to the obnoxious person leaving the "anonymous" comments.....get some balls and sign your name!!! Although I am sure that the over use of your "big words" and the extreme contempt in your comments makes it pretty obvious who it is.....so tell me how does your hard edged "too cool" approach work for you....... That's what I thought.

I would like to extend a sincere apology to the earlier comment posted to his blog; never was it meant to be taken seriously, and, after receiving similar treatment as the Roughriders' place kicker after missing the kick in the playoffs (i.e. manure thrown at my house, random death threats made, etc.), I would like to do a full retraction.
I do enjoy the different perspective on life & society that this blog provides, and I only wish Simon and his readership will be able to forgive me for my heartless comments.
